Student Spotlight: Khang Luu
Posted on January 21, 2020 by MCOB Outreach
My name is Khang Luu, and I am a senior majoring in accounting. I grew up in Vietnam
and came to the
United States at the age of 16. After these years of living in Mobile, I am gratified
to call this place home.
Traveling all the way from the other side of the globe without sufficiently speaking
English, I nevermore
thought that I would ever be a candidate for college. I discerned that only education
could fulfill my
ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥n dream. The Mitchell College of Business has given me the opportunities to
make the
impossible possible as well as helped prepare me to grow as leader in the business
world.
When I was a senior in high school, it was an excitement to visit the University of
South Alabama’s
campus, which was vast and lively. The atmosphere was filled with special energy from
the busy
students traveling to different destinations. I immediately wanted to be part of that.
Knowing that the
Mitchell College of Business is an accredited school which has the preeminent accounting
program
offering tons of opportunities to their students, I chose to have my academic experience
start here. This
school helped me to look for an internship which pushed me to grow professionally.
The professors are
amazingly knowledgeable with their teachings. Their valued lessons always inspired
me to learn more.
Academic recognition is what the Mitchell College of Business believes to be important.
I was honored
to be a scholarship recipient during the last semesters, and I felt overjoyed that
my hard work was
acknowledged.
I was chosen to be a Mitchell College of Business ambassador. This opportunity allowed
me to do my
best to bring interests into this community and school. I am also a member of Beta
Gamma Sigma where
others have the same interests, goals, and career choices as mine.
My dream is to become an accounting professor. I continuously learn and improve to
pursue this dream
of mine. The Mitchell College of Business offered me a position to become an accounting
tutor. This
experience helped me to confirm my passion and choice of career. Therefore, my plan
is to become a
Certified Public Accountant after obtaining a master’s degree in accounting. After
that, I hope to work in
public accounting for a few years. Then, I would like to attend a doctoral program
to become a professor
that bestows his best knowledge for the next generations.
In conclusion, I would like to say thanks to my family, friends, and all the wonderful
faculty who have
always been with me through this long journey.
